A hand and easy-to-use utility that enables you to create shared folders and files which are automatically synced between all user's accounts
Picnic is a practical and user-friendly solution to easily share documents, files and folders between two or more Mac's over the wireless network or LAN.
Picnic comes as an alternative to the classic file server based shared folders such as AFP and SMB/Samba or network drivers.
The installation process is pretty straightforward, you just have to mount the DMG disk image and copy Picnic to your Mac's Applications folder.
Picnic features a user-oriented interface from which you can easily add the folders and files you need to share. All shared folders are listed in the left panel and you can subscribe, unsubscribe, delete or reveal them in Finder by using the contextual menu.
From the "Right Panel" you have access to three different tabs, one for subscribers, one for conflicts and one for queue.
The Subscribers tab helps you view other users and subscribed to the content shared by them. The Conflicts and the Queue tabs are designed to help you monitor all your synchronizations.
All shared folders are automatically synchronized and can be access and edited even when you are not connected to the network. When the connections is re-established all changes will be synced.
By using Picnic you will be able to organize work groups and work with multiple documents at the same time.
In addition, Picnic enables its users to easily and effortlessly add a password to protect their shared documents.
Moreover, you have access to different versions of a file or folder and have the option the switch to or delete a certain version.
Although Picnic comes with the Bonjour chat function, this feature did not seem to work during our testing period.
In conclusion, Picnic is an easy-to-use file sharing application that provides the necessary tools to quickly share multiple files and folders with other Macs from your local network.
